In this competition, contestants had to perform self-selected and compulsory swimwear. Nguyen Thi Loan, 1.74m, from the northern province of Thai Binh and a student at the Hanoi Commerce University, won the Miss Sea title to be the first entering the finale on August 21. Loan was a volleyball player.
